About Help1013.com
About the Site
Help1013.com is a mental health education, support, and advocacy platform rooted in lived experience. The site takes its name from the 1013 mental health hold, an emergency psychiatric evaluation used when someone is believed to be at imminent risk of harm.
Founded by Jeremy Byers following his own 1013 hold in December 2025, Help1013.com exists to reduce fear, confusion, and stigma surrounding mental health crises—especially involuntary hospitalization—and to provide practical, compassionate guidance for those affected.
The tone of the site is human, direct, and non-clinical. It emphasizes dignity, survival, and the reality that recovery does not begin or end with a hospital stay.
Values & Philosophy
Help1013.com is built on the belief that:
- Mental health crises are medical emergencies, not moral failures
- Involuntary holds can save lives and be traumatic
- People deserve honesty about systems meant to help them
- Recovery is non-linear and deeply personal
- Lived experience matters
Important: The site does not replace professional care—it complements it with clarity, humanity, and truth.
